Emma Merikallio started as Sumi’s communication and administration assistant in August 2023. Her job description includes administrative tasks, the development of communications and marketing, and some customer management tasks. “My duties range from handling the company’s day-to-day activities to developing and managing the web pages and social media accounts. I also cooperate closely with Janne Teliranta, our account executive, in managing the company’s customer accounts and marketing,” Emma describes. “I’ve only been with Sumi for a short time but, thanks to the warm welcome of my colleagues, I already feel part of the team,” she adds.
Emma has a vocational qualification in business and administration and has served in administrative positions for a long time. The work tasks have often involved sales-related aspects, which she has enjoyed from the perspective of good customer services. Her key interests are written expression and developing the company’s visual image, which is why she is happy to take the lead regarding Sumi’s communications. “We will develop Sumi’s image and improve contact with our customers,” she promises.
“My job description is still taking its shape, but it already matches my wishes and strengths quite well,” Emma says “I’m conscientious and, if the schedule permits it, I like to hone details. That said, I can quickly prioritise tasks and switch smoothly from editing web pages to making calendar bookings, if need be,” she adds.
Emma has been horseback riding since she learned to walk and says that the best way for her to disconnect herself from the busy day-to-day activities is on the back of a horse. She loves animals, and admits that the undisputed queen of her home is the elderly Parson Russel Terrier Telma.
