Toni has extensive experience from the production sector of the mechanical forest industry, having served as a supervisor and production manager. In his previous roles, he was responsible for managing the production of two different plants, overseeing operations, personnel, and planning and implementing various projects, such as material recycling and logistics development. Toni is also currently pursuing a degree in industrial engineering alongside his work.
He became interested in the factory manager role due to his expertise in production and processes, leadership experience, and knowledge of workplace safety accumulated over many years. Circular economy principles resonate with him, and as a future engineer, he finds it exciting to participate in a new factory project. “Sumi Sorting appeared to be an innovative and sustainability-oriented employer that aligned with my values and professional goals.”
“Outside of work, you can find me at the gym or outdoors with my dog. Exercise and spending time in nature are important ways for me to relax and maintain my well-being,” says Toni.
As factory manager, Toni will be responsible for Sumi Sorting’s overall operational activities. Once the facility is operational in early 2026, he will lead a team of 25 employees.
Sumi Sorting is a new plastic packaging waste sorting facility planned for Riihimäki. Once operational, it will more than double Finland’s current sorting capacity for plastic packaging waste and play a crucial role in meeting the recycling targets set by the EU for Finland.
