In May 2025, Sumi terminated its service agreement with PRO service provider Rinki. The decision was based on a strong request from our customers: producer responsibility reporting must become smoother, more cost-efficient, and better aligned with constantly changing legislation.
Starting from January 2026 reporting, B2B customer service, invoicing, contract management, and producer responsibility communications for Sumi’s customers will be handled directly by Sumi, without intermediaries.
What does this mean for Sumi’s customers?
All Sumi customers will report their packaging data in the new SumiOn reporting system starting 1 January 2026. From that date onwards, customers will no longer have access to Rinki’s Extranet.
What’s new in the SumiOn reporting system?
The new system has been developed together with producers, and it offers versatile tools for managing and reporting packaging data:
Faster reporting
- Data can be entered directly from sales reports using EAN/GTIN codes or via Excel.
- The system retrieves packaging data from open sources and completes it automatically; the customer only needs to confirm accuracy.
Better control:
- Companies can view product-specific recycling fee costs directly in the system.
- Possibility to create product models (e.g., packaging material combinations) and manage the full product hierarchy from individual packages to sales batches.
- Historical, confirmed reporting data from previous years is available for easy comparison.
Flexibility:
- Reporting can be done monthly, quarterly, or annually, with invoicing following the same cycle.
- Suitable for organizations of different sizes; units and subsidiaries can be reported together or separately.
- Legislative changes can be implemented quickly and accurately without heavy development work.
Usability:
- A modern, intuitive interface that guides customers towards the correct reporting categories.
- Automatic reminders of reporting deadlines and alerts about potential discrepancies.
- Built-in AI support that answers packaging definition questions in real time and assists with reporting.
Note: You can also continue to report in the traditional Rinki style within SumiOn if you prefer not to adopt the new features immediately.
