Hockey and recycling: The Save Pond Hockey event gets a pop-up recycling point for plastic packaging

On 10 February, the Brahe field in Helsinki transformed into a venue for climate action as lovers of hockey and climate proponents assembled for the Save Pond Hockey charity tournament.

This year, Sumi’s green Sumppu pop-up collection point was also present, because a climate event obviously needs to recycle packaging waste in an exemplary manner. The collection point enabled event participants to easily recycle plastic packaging waste, which both improve the event’s waste management and encouraged participants towards appropriate sorting at home.

Sumppu was extremely well received at the event. The high utilisation rate and warm feedback prove that small actions can make a massive impact.

The Save Pond Hockey event has already been held more than 30 times, and its proceeds are donated to climate work. As many as 5,000 hockey players have already been involved, including Stanley Cup winners, Olympic medallists and President Sauli Niinistö!

We are proud to be a part of this important event because we believe that every action for the environment is a step towards a more sustainable future. Whether the context is a large-scale event or a smaller gathering, the mobile Sumppu recycling point ensures that packaging waste is sorted correctly and conveniently.

Are you organising an event that needs a Sumppu point? Contact us so we can make the event even greener together.

Cardboard, glass, metal and plastic packaging can be sorted separately at the Sumppu collection point.
