In 2022, Raan Group, the company behind known brands Reclay and RecycleMe, acquired a majority stake in Sumi Oy. “This was another step toward the Groups strategy for international circular economy. Many companies operate in multiple markets. Raan Group already acts as a PRO (packaging producer organization) in Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Slovakia, and Canada, and also provides comprehensive consultancy in circular economy and producer responsibility in these countries. Through the Group’s network and unique expertise, Sumi can also offer high-quality services to its clients who operate in domestic and international markets” says Antti Tiilikainen, Managing Director of Reclay Germany and Chairman of the Board of Sumi Oy.
“Especially PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) brings entirely new challenges for companies operating in international markets, in terms of recyclability, packaging labeling, and the use of recycled materials within a complex legal framework. It is beneficial that Sumi’s, and in turn Reclay’s, customers can turn to a centralized service provider that helps them meet their producer obligations in the national markets of all countries,” Tiilikainen explains.
