The SuMaKi pick-up order app currently has over 680 registered users, and more than 400 agricultural plastic loads have been ordered for collection across Finland. So far, we have completed over 140 pick-ups, and more than 800 tons of bale plastic have been delivered for recycling.
“It has been great to see how customers have found the SuMaKi pick-up order mobile app we launched and placed orders through it. Initially, there were some challenges with sorting the plastics correctly into white and colored piles for collection, but with good cooperation, we have achieved better results with our customers. It’s been satisfying to see the results of our work when the bale plastic we collected have found new life,” commented Materials Manager Anders Lundin.
Pick-ups are happening frequently, and the current order backlog is expected to be cleared before winter. Pick-ups will be paused for the winter and will resume in spring 2025, when weather conditions improve again. SuMaKi is currently planning to expand its operations next year to include other types of agricultural plastics, as well as increasing the amount of collected bale plastics significantly.
