Reporting

Here you will find instructions and deadlines for reporting packaging data. The actual reporting is done in our new SumiON reporting portal which opens for our customers on the 1st of January 2026.

Small producers,
less than 50 000 kg per year

Small producers report their packaging data for 2025 in full in January 2026. The packaging data will be invoiced after reporting, according to the 2025 fees.

Small producers can submit their data using the light declaration form. However, it should be noted that in some cases, reporting with the detailed declaration form may actually be more cost-effective even for small producers!

Large producers,
over 50 000 kg per year

Large producers can choose between two reporting models:

1. Annual reporting of packaging data

  • Advance invoicing quarterly, based on the previous year’s reported volumes and the current year’s recycling fee price list

  • The invoicing is balanced at the beginning of the following year, once the company has reported the actual packaging volumes

2. Quarterly reporting of packaging data

  • Recycling fees are invoiced quarterly, based on the reported actual packaging volumes and the current year’s recycling fee price list

Service and farmer packaging
(PaVi packaging)

As of the beginning of 2024, producer responsibility for service packaging and farmer packaging has shifted from companies using the packaging to the manufacturers or importers of the empty packaging.

For example, cafés are no longer required to report take-away cups, as the producer responsibility for this type of packaging has been transferred to the manufacturers or importers of the cups.

Service packaging is used for packing food and other products at the point of sale directly for consumers, such as plastic or paper bags, take-away containers, and pick-and-mix candy bags. Farmer packaging, on the other hand, refers to packaging used by agricultural and horticultural companies for selling their own unprocessed products, such as berries or vegetables.

SUP (Single-Use Plastics) reporting

Under the EU's Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP Directive), certain single-use packaging containing plastic, such as drinks cups and plastic bags, must be reported separately. Companies have to report these SUP packages separately and are subject to an additional SUP fee.
